I presented at the June 12th, 2019 Carleton University Launch of Eastern Ontario’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) at Impact Hub Ottawa, where I spoke about ‘Babies, Business + Breakfast: Creating Parent-Friendly Business Spaces + Experiences’. Carleton is one of nine regional hubs for WEKH, which includes VentureLabs at Simon Fraser University, Mount Royal University,Continue reading “Creating Parent-Friendly Business Spaces and Experiences: Transcript of Lightning Talk for Eastern Ontario’s WEKH”

Attending Collision Conference 2019 (with or without kids): PT 2
Maybe it’s the Irish origins of the company based in Dublin and the accompanying famous hospitable nature that sticks to most people’s memory after a visit to the country. Or perhaps Paddy Cosgrave and his team have mastered events administration city and all of the hard grafting and technical streamlining that must go on.

I *almost* brought the whole family down to Toronto to attend North America’s biggest tech conference together BUT after spending the past three years bringing my children with me into business settings in Canada and abroad, we opted to swap roles for a few days, ramp up the weaning process with the baby and I hopped on the train for a rare few days (and sleep-filled nights) solo.

Visiting Algonquin College’s DARE District with kids
My host described Algonquin’s new space, how it’s currently being used and potential future uses…all while my son crawled around the space, ate a very messy digestive biscuit and babbled every now and again. He didn’t bat an eye and gladly let my son explore before we ended with a quick tour of the DARE District but he did say he hoped they had baby change facilities on site (they did!)
Cancelling plans
We skipped out on part of Ottawa’s worst winter in ages, with this year seeing it proclaimed to experience the coldest snowstorm in 100 years. Our family packed up to head to balmy Galway, Ireland (more to come about travelling overseas with two under age three soon) for the first half of February. Soaked upContinue reading “Cancelling plans”
Visiting Invest Ottawa with kids
Visiting Invest Ottawa with kids: I documented the experience as I wanted to show other parents what it is like to visit ‘Ottawa’s One-Stop Business Acceleration Shop’.
Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Celebrating IWD and conquering those limiting beliefs!
Self-imposed and limiting beliefs are real but if you do some prep work, get comfortable with being a bit uncomfortable and decide to go for it, I promise it will be worth it.Β πΆπ»πβοΈ
