My interview with expatfinder.com has been published on their website! Hindsight is really 20/20 – when I spoke with them, our international family had made our fourth (4th) move to another country.

Life is moving fast but we’re staying still

It’s the first time in over a decade when I haven’t left the province or the country to go explore somewhere new. This post is a small break during a whirlwind year and a pat on the back to remind ourselves of how far we’ve come, without actually having to go that far at all.

Dear Ireland, Thanks for the mini break from Canadian winter! We had a great time in Galway and are looking forward to Paddy's Day and the start of spring here. 🍀 Travelling with two kids under age three on multi-stop flights is no joke. Lucky for us the boys travelled very well and if anything we need to take notes from them and up our chillax, snack and nap game. 😎 We visited parts of Galway, Mayo, Sligo and for the first time ever, only used Dublin for airport transfers. Next time we'll do a bit more of the South and East coasts but this trip was all about the relations meeting our newest little man and getting reacquainted with our eldest! So we decided to stick to the home area and had delightful day trips around the Wild Atlantic Way, tested out the new M17, strolled around Galway City and drove around lots of winding country roads where we were staying with family. Highlights were seeing the boys with their family and cousins, experiencing Irish farm life with country views of rolling hills, stone walls, sheep and a mountain in the backdrop every morning. Sunny Connemara drives, windy walks along the Claddagh, exploring the Salthill aquarium, great bread, tea and hospitality (we knew to expect those already). A lady gave me €3 in Supermacs to buy the boys ice cream because I helped with her grandchildren's buggy, I had private tours of two 300-year-old heritage manors, met a flexible work focused tech startup founder (and mother of four) for coffee and a chat at the new PorterShed and was gifted a Druid tarot deck. Nice to know my history of random luck and magical moments is still going strong even though I'm now a mum and often distracted by two busy boys. Detailed posts about Galway day trips for young families, creativity, flexible work, travel and international family life in general coming up on the blog soon!
